Steamboat Resort in Colorado is mid way through a $200 million (A$315 million) development on and around the ski resort. It includes a new apres ski plaza, restaurants, bars, an ice rink and stage for live music at the base. On the mountain there are new lifts and terrain and an amazing new learning area. On Mountain Improvements at Steamboat
It starts with a new Top to Bottom Gondola, know as the Wild Blue Gondola. The lower half has already opened with the upper half from a mid station at Bashor Bowl up to Sunshine Peak due to open for the 23/24 season. Bottom to top will only take 13 minutes and the capacity to get people out of the base area will increase from 6000 people per hour to 10,000.
The recently re-graded Rough Rider/Bashor Basin area will be the future home to the Greenhorn Ranch, an area that will be dedicated to beginner skiers and riders. Featuring a slope graded for beginners that will be a 0% to 15% angle, and progressive Terrain-Based Learning development with a dedicated chairlift. So if you are looking for a destination in Colorado to start your ski journey or that of your children, Steamboat is a great option.
Furthermore, in Winter 23/24 an additional 650 acres of terrain at Mahogany Ridge will open, meaning Steamboat will go from being the 5th largest to the 2nd largest resort in Colorado.
