The Ikon Pass for 2022-23 is now available, and has topped up the amount of stoke on offer next season. You can do YEWWWWW  across 50 of the best ski destinations across the world! Like the crew from Ikon say, if its fun, you’re doing it right!

So we have decided to take a look into the top 5 destinations where you can use your 2022-23 Ikon Pass. It was pretty hard narrowing it down, and we have used a variety of factors including number of days available (5, 7 or unlimited), location (we are going for variety here) and general awesomeness of the destination. Don’t agree with our choices? Did we miss an obvious choice (Jackson Hole, Aspen…?). Let us know in the comments. We would love to hear from you.

1. Steamboat, Colorado

It is the quintessential American ski resort, which has appropriately branded itself as Ski Town USA. It has a small town Western feel, harking back to its origins as a mining town. Steamboat’s vast terrain and somewhat legendary ‘Champagne Powder’ are what most people come for. These days Steamboat is cantering towards the future, with over $200 million being invested in improvements, the first of which is a brand new, top to bottom Gondola. It is slated to partially open for the 22-23 season. The beginners and families will be pleased to hear about the new learners area at Greenhorn Ranch. Accessed via gondola and with dedicated learning areas, it will make access to beginner terrain easy for those new to skiing and riding. There genuinely is something for everyone at Steamboat.

The Ikon Pass offers unlimited access to Steamboat in 22/23.

2. Mammoth Mountain, California

Named for its size, Mammoth Mountain in the Sierra Nevada ranges of California is pretty huge. Its a no nonsense kind of resort, with only a small mountain village, but larger town a few minutes down the road. One thing we love about Mammoth is its typically long season. You will frequently find the lifts are still spinning through May, even into June in a good season. So if you are planning a ski holiday around Easter, then Mammoth is a good choice based on historical conditions.

Mammoth is also great if you like parks, air and freestyle. It is well invested in creating amazing parks and terrain, so perfect for the park junkies among us.

Access to Mammoth Mountain is unlimited on the 22/23 Ikon Pass. While you are there, why not check out nearby June Mountain or Big Bear Mountain (also unlimited) and mix it up!

3. Coronet Peak, Remarkables and Mt Hutt

Your Ikon Pass will get you a total of 7 days skiing in New Zealand in 2022 and 2023. It is a big bonus that allows some mid year ski time, for no extra cost. Why not mix up a few days staying in Methven and skiing Mt Hutt, before adding a trip to Queenstown to ride at Coronet Peak as well as the Remarkables. These resorts offer some of New Zealand’s best skiing and some pretty spectacular views to go with it. Let’s face it, you have always wanted to go to Queenstown and now you have the perfect excuse!

4. Palisades Tahoe, California

Formerly known as Squaw Valley, the resort recently changed it’s to Palisades Tahoe (find out more about that here). It is a mountain of legendary proportions, being the biggest resort in the Tahoe region, and former winter Olympic host resort (1960). It is known as a Spring Skiing Capital, and home mountain to dozens of Olympic and World Cup athletes across multiple snow sports. With an average annual snowfall of 400 inches, Palisades Tahoe frequently operates the longest ski and snowboard season in Lake Tahoe. The Village at Palisades Tahoe offers year-round events and over 50 bars, restaurants and boutiques, many of which are locally owned and operated.

The 22-23 Ikon Pass has unlimited skiing at Palisades Tahoe.

5. Ski Big 3 – Banff, Sunshine and Lake Louise,  Canada

In the interests of balance, we had to include a Canadian resort. It was hard to choose SkiBig3 over Revelstoke and Red Mountain which were also top contenders that are available for 7 days on the Ikon Pass. Ski Big 3 includes Norquay (Banff), Sunshine and Lake Louise.

Located in the Canadian Rockies, these three mountains offer variety, scenery and epic (can we say that here?) riding! Your pass will get 7 days across the 3 ski areas. Whether you want to do a quick trip to Norquay, soak it up at Sunshine or Ski Lake Louise you are assured of a great time. If you haven’t been to Banff yet, it should definitely be on your bucket list and is seriously one of our favourite all round destinations!

The 22-23 Ikon Pass has a total of 7 Days at SkiBig3.
