Niseko

Discover the world-famous powder, incredible terrain, and stylish accommodation that make Niseko ski packages one of the top choices for skiers and snowboarders from around the globe. Whether you’re a first-timer, a powder hound, or travelling with the family, Niseko delivers an unforgettable winter escape.

Why Choose Niseko?

Located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, Niseko has earned a global reputation for having some of the driest, deepest powder snow in the world. Thanks to cold Siberian winds that pass over the Sea of Japan, the area sees a consistent snowfall of over 15 metres each season. Over the past two decades, Niseko has transformed into a world-class ski destination with luxury hotels, stylish apartments, authentic Japanese guesthouses, and vibrant après-ski culture. A wide variety of terrain, English-speaking services, and family-friendly facilities make it one of the best destinations for international travellers booking ski holidays to Japan.

Explore the Four Resorts of Niseko United

Niseko United is made up of four interconnected resorts on the slopes of Mount Annupuri (1,308m), all accessible on one lift pass. Here's a quick look at what each base area offers:

Niseko Grand Hirafu

The heart of the action. Grand Hirafu is the largest and most popular base, known for its lively ski village, extensive accommodation options, and unbeatable nightlife. From ski-in ski-out hotels and self-contained apartments to Japanese-style inns, Hirafu is perfect for travellers wanting convenience, atmosphere, and easy access to the slopes. A free shuttle connects the village to lift areas if needed.

Niseko Village

A luxurious and refined option, Niseko Village combines world-class hotels like the Hilton Niseko Village and The Green Leaf with boutique shopping, excellent dining, and ski-in ski-out convenience. It's ideal for couples, families, or anyone wanting a balance of elegance and access to deep powder.

Hanazono

A favourite for families and freestyle skiers alike, Hanazono boasts beginner-friendly terrain, terrain parks, and famous powder runs like Strawberry and Blueberry Fields. It’s also home to the stylish Hanazono 308 Centre, a hub for rentals, lessons, and après-ski.

Annupuri

Looking for peace and fresh tracks? Annupuri offers a quieter, more traditional Japanese atmosphere and some of the best backcountry access in the region. It’s perfect for powder seekers and those who enjoy a slower pace.

Niseko & Tokyo Trip

March 31, 2025

Thanks Melissa,

We had a fantastic trip!!! You did a fantastic job with the itinerary and accommodation.

The only suggestion I would make would be to avoid the Tokyo stop on the way to Sapporo. Tim did explain that you tried for a stopover in Singapore, but it didn’t work with our timeframes. It ended up taking us many hours to navigate the trains for such a large mob of us between Haneda and Narita. We didn’t check in to our motel near Narita until 10.30pm that night after we flew in (we and our kids were all totally starving!!).

Other than that, all the other logistics worked well.

Amanda

Response from Ski Travel Company

Hi Amanda

Thank you for your review and feedback. We are glad you had a great time. Sorry to hear it was difficult navigating the journey from Narita to Haneda. We will definitely keep this feedback in mind for future trips between Brisbane and Sapporo. The good news is Qantas are starting a Sydney – Sapporo direct flight for 2026 so perhaps that would be a better route next time.

Cheers

Susan

Niseko at Christmas

February 20, 2025

My daughter, son and I spent two weeks in Japan in December 2024 with Christmas being a ski trip to Niseko for 5 days staying at the Mountainside Palace apartments in Hirafu. We hired our ski gear from Rythmn Niseko and skied three of the four resorts – Grand Hirafu, Hanazomo and Niseko Village. We thought Grand Hirafu the best as had the greater variety of runs – easy ones for me (I’m 67) and black ones for Tom and Georgia. We enjoyed the skiing as it was our first time on powder having mainly skied the sludge at Perisher and Thredbo. Hiram was a great place to stay in Niseko with the best range of restaurants and shops as it is the biggest village in Niseko. We caught the free shuttle bus to and from the gondola to get up the mountain. It picked up and dropped off right outside our accommodation and was a 5 to 10 minute ride. The only issue we had was it took over two hours to pickup our skis and boots from Rythmn so best try and do it on the day you arrive if you have time – we didn’t. For restaurants you need to prebook to get in at a reasonable time. Great place and we would definitely go back!

Hi Carly,

Just wanted to say thanks and that we really enjoyed our holiday, everything that you arranged went very smoothly.

It was great to be able to change our bus transfer time just by emailing you the day before while in Japan, we really appreciated that level of service.

Thanks,

Jen
