A must do adventure in Hakuba is the Snow Monkey Day Trip. It is more than just a chance to see these cute and unique creatures up close, with much more culture and history included.
The tour departs daily and includes the following:
Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park
The world famous Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park is home to about 200 wild monkeys who spend their days soaking in the natural hot springs, keeping warm from the harsh winter. Your tour will take you to Shimbashi Onsen where you will commence a 30 minute walk through the forest up to the Monkey Park. At the Monkey Park, apart from bathing in the onsen, you will be able to see the snow monkeys playing, fighting, eating, and huddling to keep warm. Watch in awe at their adorable expression and movements.
 Obuse Town
The second stop is Obuse Town, a picturesque and interesting town known for its rich history of art and premium chestnuts and other farm produce. The town proudly houses a number of interesting museums and galleries, the most notable that of the famous wood block artist Katsushika Hokusai, aptly named Hokusai Museum. You will have the opportunity to visit the Masuichi Sake Brewery. Lunch is a delicious set course traditional Japanese meal with a choice of main courses including dessert and glass of Sake.
Zenkoji Temple and Nagano
Zenkoji is one of the most fascinating and historic temples in all of Japan, with nearly 1,500 years since the original foundation. The temple’s history dates back to when the very first Buddhist image statue, and the story of Buddhism, came to Japan from India via the Korean peninsula back in the 500s. The streets surrounding the temple are lined with lantern lit shops and tiered roofed stalls, souvenir shops and galleries.
Group lessons
Available from beginner half day lessons to high performance multi-day camps with something in between for all levels. Kids camps and childcare can also be booked and we highly recommend booking in advance for travel in January due to high demand.
Private Lessons
A great way to work on your technique, skip the lift line and get a personalised tour of the mountain. Private lessons can accommodate up to 5 people (of the same discipline and skill level) so can also be a very cost effective way of getting a quality lesson!
Hakuba Guided Ski and Snowboard Ski Packages
With the sheer expanse of resorts and backcountry, there are so many places to ski that it can be daunting for those who may not know the terrain or where to begin. The Hakuba area is definitely
worth exploring and you’ll be exploring it safely with an experienced and professional guide. Whether you are a first timer in the backcountry or a seasoned powder-hound we can cater the tour to your level and ability.
In Resort Guiding: A day out with one of our knowledgeable local guides is a great way to not only get to know the resort in a timely and convenient way, but also find the best snow and least crowded slopes.
Off Piste Guiding: Many people agree that Hakuba has some of the best tree riding in Japan. The Hakuba valley area has a wide variety of off-piste terrain options. Primarily within the tree-line zone in elevation, these areas are accessible via the resort lifts. We can ride both in-bounds regulated tree riding zones as well as outside the resort boundaries. Imagine sliding through deciduous forest with nicely spaced trees, playful pillows with gullies and ridges interspersed through the runs.
Back Country Guiding: Hakuba backcountry terrain is sizeable and ranges from simple terrain and more complex terrain choices. Within the tree-line and alpine zones in elevation, the backcountry is mostly accessible via the top of the resort lifts. From the upper lifts, we will don our skins or snowshoes and then head off outside the resort boundaries. Depending on where we go, we can access beautifully spaced tree runs, open alpine bowls or steeper terrain in chutes and couloirs.
Ski Packages include pick up from accommodation and are full day private excursions. Rental equipment ca be arrangd.
